Background
The company used the MDX data migration service to migrate global Customer, Vendor and Materials data from more than a dozen ERP and legacy systems to SAP ECC and MDM. In addition to extensive cleansing of existing information, the SAP master files required a great deal of new information. Since 2003 the company has leveraged the MDX data migration service to migrate global customer data from almost 1200 systems into a single SAP instance. The migration process has become highly automated using a comprehensive XML input mask, operational reports and standard transformation rules to produce LSMW maintenance files. The company initially used offshore data stewards from the MDX team to deal with the large volumes of validations arising from the transformation process. Now that the rules and the data is relatively stable, the company use internal staff to manage the few exceptions via the MDX web console.
