Access Management

Access is the authorized physical and logical means to information assets while management is the measure that protects the information against unauthorized access. Organizations face many challenges to find the balance not only between access and control but also access management cost and convenience. While threats to privacy of information assets from outside hackers certainly exist, data suggests a more severe threat: unauthorized use or disclosure by an organization's employees is likely to be high. This threat is usually caused by a number of factors, including poor training, stress, lack of integrated hardware and software, legacy systems, or too many applications or systems requiring separate authentication. Not only are these conditions pervasive throughout industry, but their likely occurrence could also lead to serious consequences such as criminal and civil penalties, loss of reputation, loss of accreditation, and loss of federal and state dollars.
