Position Description
Position Title: Solution Architect
Solution Architect:
The Solutions Architect will work closely with the sales teams to map customer business requirements to technical solutions and provide technical leadership and oversight to the implementation of these solutions. This is an individual contributor position responsible for the overall design and technical oversight of complex technology solutions driven by business initiatives in customer environments. This responsibility typically spans all layers of the business infrastructure and interfaces with the customer and executive management to define requirements and recommend solutions. The Architect works closely with the Account Management Team, the Engagement Manager, and the required Laurus Practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Participates in customer engagement planning and supporting sales efforts.
- Reviews and influences existing customer strategic/business goals.
- Collects, documents, and prioritizes customer requirements.
- Articulates alternatives in terms of cost, benefit, and risk where multiple solutions exist.
- Assists the Project Manager in the creation of technical project plans, and assists in assembling teams for customer engagements.
- Promote and evangelize innovation and technologies
- Quality Assurance audits.
Marginal Functions:
Some travel will be required; the majority of customers will be within 3 hours drive from Itasca.
Required Knowledge
- Extensive experience and knowledge of Sun Microsystems Hardware and Software Products including JES and Identity Management.
- Relationships in the local technical community.
- Technology enthusiast.
- Strong Verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong presentation skills.
- Experience or knowledgeable applying Architectural methodologies.
- Ability to architect Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Solutions
Preffered Knowledge
- Knowledge of the local Sun Microsystems community.
- Experience with Veritas Enterprise Storage Management, Clustering, and Backup software products in heterogeneous environments
- Experience with Hitachi Data Systems midrange and enterprise storage products
- Experience managing UNIX systems running Oracle or IBM databases.
- Experience with architecting and implementing Linux-based environments
- Experience with consolidation and virtualization solutions
Minimum Level of Education:
Bachelors of Science or Engineering. Masters degree preferred.
